Methodology

This section presents in detail the methodology applied in floodplain mapping under climate changes. In the conventional process of floodplain mapping, local data conditions were utilized to calculate the surface elevations by the hydraulic formulas. The main goal was to turn the process into a digital format application tool for spatial analyses. The methodology mentioned in this project consists of three steps: (i) Pre-processing of geometric data for input to HEC-RAS, using HEC-GeoRAS; (ii) Hydraulic analysis in HEC-RAS; and (iii) Post-processing of HEC-RAS results to generate flood inundation map, using HEC-GeoRAS. The flow chart below indicates the whole work flow for this project.
